Virechna Therapy

Understanding Virechana Therapy

Virechana is a classical Panchakarma Shodhana therapy aimed at eliminating aggravated Pitta Dosha from the body through controlled and supervised purgation. It primarily targets the liver, gall bladder, and intestinal tract, helping remove accumulated toxins and excess heat from the system.

Why Virechana May Be for You

Chronic skin disorders

Liver and gallbladder issues

Hyperacidity and gastritis

Inflammatory digestive conditions

Hormonal disturbances

Pitta-related emotional irritability

Virechana Procedure

After adequate preparation with Snehana and Swedana, Virechana is administered using a prescribed purgative formulation. The medicine induces controlled bowel movements, allowing the elimination of aggravated Pitta Dosha through the lower gastrointestinal tract.

Post-Therapy Care

A structured recovery phase is essential to restore digestive strength (Agni) and stabilize the body. A gradual dietary regimen (Samsarjana Krama) is advised, along with adequate rest and lifestyle regulation. This phase supports proper assimilation, prevents strain, and ensures the long-term benefits of the therapy.

Act Before Imbalance

At Achintya Ayurveda, timely consultation helps identify Pitta imbalance early and determine whether Virechana therapy is appropriate for your condition.

When Pitta-related imbalance is addressed at the right stage, outcomes are more effective and recovery is smoother. Delaying appropriate care may allow symptoms to persist or deepen over time.
